What's Trending in Travel this Fall

Updated: Jul 5

Travel has been HOT for the past 18 months. Post-pandemic, people are wanting to get out there and make up for lost time.

Instead of putting off their vacation until "someday," they are finding ways to take the trip NOW.

This is resulting in some interesting travel trends I'm seeing right now.

Europe is HOT!

People were cooped up in the U.S. for several years, so now they are eager to expand their horizons and explore across the pond.

In 2024, Europe will be even more popular as France hosts the Olympic Games.

Therefore, if you are interested in visiting Europe in 2024, now is the time to plan for it.

Cruise Lines are Opening Deployment Schedules Earlier than Ever

The popularity of cruising has skyrocketed due to the ease of travel, value, and wide variety of destinations visited.

As a result, cruise lines are opening their deployment schedules 2-3 years ahead of time.

If you'd like to sail on a hot, new ship, such as Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas or the Disney Treasure, booking early is key.

Group Cruises are Extremely Popular

I'm seeing an increase in the number of people who want to cruise together. "Groups" can range from a few couples to extended family to people who share a common interest.

Cruising is the perfect way to explore and share delicious meals together without having to work at it.

Plus, when you travel as a group, you unlock extra benefits such as onboard amenities and discounts.

As a Result, Group Space is Filling Up Faster than Before

I have shared this many times, but it's worth repeating regularly.

I have incredible group rates available on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises—prices that you will never see if you book directly with the cruise lines. Individual travelers may book into them without having to be part of a "group."

Only so many of these rates are made available, and other travel agents can book into them as well.

Therefore, the earlier you reach out about a cruise vacation, the greater the likelihood that these rates will be available.

Just this week, I secured some great rates for clients cruising to Northern Europe next summer.

They saved over $5,000 by booking into group space.

Same room types, HUGE savings!

Black Friday Deals are Already Here

Just like in the stores, travel suppliers are introducing their savings and limited-time promotions well ahead of the traditional Black Friday. They know that people are eager to book travel, and they want to capture your business.

Therefore, NOW is a great time to be thinking about your next trip. If you hope to travel, why not lock in some extra savings or benefits?

I am seeing discounts and promotions from almost every supplier, including rate reductions, onboard credits, reduced airfare, etc.

All in all, the moral of the story is that people are booking travel frequently and earlier than ever before.

The days of waiting for last-minute deals are waning, as better pricing is to be had by booking early.

Group rates and Black Friday specials are a great way to lock in your next vacation and then have time to look forward to it and anticipate the adventure to come.
